The little soul speaks with God
Once there was a little soul who joyfully said to God: “I know who I am.” God lovingly replied: “That is wonderful. And who are you?” The little soul said: “I am the light.” Yet it wished not only to know this as a thought, but to feel it as a living experience.
God explained that experience is only possible where contrasts exist. Light can only be known in contrast to darkness, love where fear appears, forgiveness where hurt occurs. Thus the little soul entered the world of form.
Then the little soul asked: “What is forgiveness?” A second soul lovingly stepped forward and said: “For you, I will dim my light far down. In your field of experience, I will take on the role through which you can truly experience forgiveness. But please do not be angry with me, for I do this only for you – out of love, so that you may remember who you are.”
Both souls agreed to remind each other that all of this was only a field of experience – a play of forms within the one consciousness. Yet as they descended deeply into the illusion of separation, both forgot their agreement. The roles appeared real, pain and hurt felt true, and the memory of the One faded.
Then God came to their aid and reminded them who they truly and authentically are: light, love, and expressions of the one being. This is the unique quality of the present time – a collective remembrance that we are not separate, but awakening together from the one consciousness.
The true spiritual meaning
The deeper message of the story goes far beyond morality or personal growth. It points to the realization that in truth there is no separation. God, soul, light, darkness, experience, and world are not separate things – they are expressions of one and the same consciousness.
The little soul is not a being separate from God. It is an individual expression of the One Being. Just as a wave is not separate from the ocean, the soul is not separate from universal consciousness. Everything that appears is part of the One.
There is only one consciousness
The true essence is: all is consciousness. Not only humans or souls possess consciousness – rather, everything that exists is consciousness itself. Matter, thoughts, emotions, time, and space all arise within this one field of being.
The story invites us to remember that every encounter is ultimately the One meeting itself. In every person, every experience, and every contrast, consciousness meets itself. All is One.
